Research Overview Compound context

KPV is a synthetic tripeptide corresponding to the C-terminal three-residue sequence (Lys-Pro-Val) of alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH), a 13-amino acid cleavage product of proopiomelanocortin (POMC). The proline residue at position 2 introduces a conformational constraint in the peptide backbone that has been noted in published structural characterization studies. Investigated in preclinical and in vitro laboratory models examining melanocortin receptor pathway signaling, inflammatory cytokine pathway modulation, NF-κB signaling pathway research, gut mucosal signaling models, intestinal epithelial pathway activity, and skin-associated melanocortin receptor studies. Referenced in published preclinical literature examining the receptor interaction profile of α-MSH-derived tripeptide fragments across multiple tissue signaling model systems. For Research Use Only — Not for Human or Veterinary Use.
